Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Water Polo Association President Mohamed Turay he is set to declare for the NOC president as NOC elections draw closer.

Mohamed Turay has been under high pressure from stakeholders of different Sporting disciplines over voting right to the contest for the presidency in upcoming NOC elections.

Mohamed Turay who have been in sports in his entire life in 2011 to 2013 he rise as Assistant Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Water Polo Association, in 2013 the Association helds their elective congress where he was elected as the Secretary General where he spent 8 years in office 2013 to 2021,he served two different president in his Association, Dr A.T. Fadlu-Deen in 2013 to 2017 and Rev George Modupeh Spinsbury-Williams in 2017 to 2021.

In 2021 he was elected as the president of Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Water Polo Association.

During his first year in office the Association have been doing well through surveys.

The Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Association has scored 16 out of the 20 marks indicator on the latest International Swimming Federation (FINA) Good Governance Survey for 2022 marking the second consecutive pass in as many years.

This survey is conducted every year by FINA to see the progress Federations all over the world are making in terms of good governance structures.

Mohamed Turay said “We feel elated to be recognized once again by FINA as a country with a High Level of Governance Structure. This is the result of working tirelessly and continuously to upkeep the name of the country internationally and locally. Congratulation to us all,” President of Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Association, Mohamed Abdul Turay stated proudly.

“The new survey recorded some enviable gains in our quota of female Members in our Executive Committee.” he ended.

The recent FINA Good Governance Survey will serve as a spur to improve and promote the affairs and activities of the Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Association in 2023.

After some stakeholders in the sporting disciplines have approached me to contest for the presidency position it rather unfortunate I was with my with the Sierra Leone Swimming team to the FINA World Championship in Budapest Hungary in June 2022, so I to have to consider over the request from those stakeholders.

The team arrived in Ghana for Visa process to travel to Budapest Hungary for the FINA World Championship,he discussed with his Ghanaian counterpart as the two countries were expecting to in Budapest Hungary with the same flight unfortunately it couldn’t went so we,so the two countries used two different flights but we agreed unanimously to discuss with the International Federation executive members to hear from them Mohamed Turay will decide if he will contest at the NOC elections, after discussing with the executive now FINA have said they will like to see each of their members to grow in sports and develop Swimming around the world, the responds have been a high inspiration for Mohamed Turay to go for the position.

In FINA Mohamed Turay is highly recognized and respected as one of the few Africa credible members who always contribute positively to develop Swimming, swimming must develop not only to the Western world but also Africa.
