Peter Lansana, a lands surveyor at the Ministry of Lands has been dragged to Court by Benjamin Renny, Deputy Manager of Al-Nour General Furniture and Supplies for taking his money for land.
The accused on Tuesday 15 November 2022, appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Court No 3, Pademba Road, Freetown, on two counts: forgery, contrary to Section 2 (1) (a) of the forgery Act 1913 and obtaining money by false pretense, contrary to Section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the charge sheet on count 1, the accused, Peter Lansana on diverse dates – between February and March 2022 – at Youyi Building, Freetown, with intent to defraud and forge certain documents purported to have been prepared and singed by C.H.A Tamba which is known to be false. Count 2 stated that the accused on the same date and place with intent to defraud obtained the sum of thirty one million seven hundred and fifty million Leones from Benjamin Renny by falsely pretending that he has land for sale which is known to be false. The Prosecutor DSP Sorie Conteh opposed to bail but the accused was granted bail by given his word that he would pay the complainant. The matter was adjourned to the 16th November 2022.
