Sierra Leone’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has announced a series of public hearings to investigate the financial management and operational practices of the National Sports Authority (NSA), the Ministry of Finance (MoF), and relevant travel agencies involved in sports-related activities from 2020 to 2024.
The hearings, scheduled for Tuesday, December 17th, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the conference hall of the Administrative Building, Parliament of Sierra Leone, aim to address key issues within these government entities and agencies.
The PAC has summoned several individuals and institutions to appear before the committee, including the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Sports, the executive director and former executive director of the NSA, the managing director of Star Travel Agency, the head/manager of Cinderella Travel and Tours, the ambassador of sports, and the technical team of the Leone Stars National Team.
The required submissions include documents related to player bonuses, competitor lists, disbursement schedules, air ticket purchase procedures, and details on player selection, fitness assessment, training methods, and team integration.
The PAC has warned that failure to comply with the summons may result in further parliamentary action. The committee has expressed its appreciation for the cooperation of all concerned parties and looks forward to a productive hearing.
