The Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party in Bombali District, Northern Sierra Leone, has confirmed that the party has reinstated its Chairman in Constituency 33, who was recently suspended for misconduct and insubordination.

Speaking over the phone, Alhaji Mohamed Mogambo Saffa said Abu Bakarr Kargbo has been reinstated, and his suspension revoked after he apologized to the leadership of the party in Bombali District, the Northeast region, and at the national level.

“My name is Alhaji Mohamed Mugambo Saffa, the District Chairman of SLPP in Bombali. I was the one who suspended him [Abu Bakarr Kargbo] for insubordination. But he has gone through all the procedures of suspension as well as a letter apologizing to the leadership of the party. Therefore, I have been mandated by the regional chairman to lift his suspension, and from now henceforth, his suspension has been lifted,” the SLPP Bombali District Chairman said over the phone.

Abu Bakarr Kargbo was recently suspended by the leadership of the party for misconduct and insubordination. During a meeting at the regional party office in Makeni, Kargbo unlawfully and forcefully carted away ID cards belonging to grassroots supporters.

This action was considered misconduct, insubordination, and riotous conduct by the party.

In a letter dated 13th of February 2025, the Chairman said Kargbo’s suspension was revoked by the provisions of the constitution of the Sierra Leone People’s Party.

“The provisions of the constitution of the Sierra Leone People’s Party and following a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding your previous suspension, I’m directed by the Regional Chairman of Northeast to officially revoke your suspension and reinstate you back to your position as Chairman of Constituency 33 with immediate effect,” Saffa wrote in his letter.

This decision, the chairman said, reflects the party’s commitment to fairness, reconciliation, and inclusivity in fostering unity and ensuring that all party structures operate efficiently. Also, Kargbo’s reinstatement, the chairman stated, is to strengthen the party’s leadership and mobilization effort within that area and in alignment with the broader objectives of the Sierra Leone People’s Party in Bombali District.

The reinstated chairman is warned to conduct himself lawfully and to uphold the principles and values of the Sierra Leone People’s Party.

Kargbo has been ordered by the party to officially take office and resume his functions and duties as the Chairman of Constituency 33.
