October 15th 2017, Dr Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, a seasoned economist, who has served in three different governmental dispensations was controversially (as was deemed by doubters) appointed as the party flagbearer ahead of top names within the party of the All People’s Congress (APC) to contest for the presidential seat of the country in the 2018 general elections against Dr Julius Maada Bio. But as being masterminded by men and however answered by God, he undeservedly lose to a narrow victory, which to date the result of that elections is yet to be published by the National Electoral Commission (NEC), now Electoral Commission For Sierra Leone (ECSL). But as good things, good people never be too late to come by, Dr Samura Kamara is indeed the type like figure Sierra Leone is in search of, due to his vast political and governance experiences garnered during the Julius Maada Bio led coup administration, the Dr Ahmed Tejan Kabba administration and offcourse the latest of all during the erstwhile government of Dr Ernest Bai Koroma. Indications from all of these, he indeed served worthwhile and now riped and ready to lead his people and redeem them from the shackles of suffering and poverty; for indeed my choice, your choice and our choice to lead us come 2023.
Just after his appointment in 2017 to serve as the party’s flagbearer for the 2018 general elections, doubters from the other sides then doubted his potentials as being someone not known that much, which ignited the slogan “you Sabi am?” and with greater belief in what he has done and ready to do for his country, made his party stalwarts and those who believe in him to give an apt response to a baseless question, “yes, we Sabi am,” “ein nor eva tiff” which signalled his clean political records, being a technocrat, humble and a ‘down to earth’ personality, who has it all to bring the redemption time for his people. As was once postulated by Plato, a Greek philosopher, who once said, ” until philosophers are Kings or kings take up the studies of philosophy, our cities shall never have a rest,” he quoted. The quotation speaks volume of everything we are experiencing as Sierra Leoneans that if we do not put the right people at their right places, we will still continue to suffer. So, Dr Samura Kamara is not a mismatch to what we are craving for as a country, but a complete match.
A genuine personality who has helped to stabilise the economy of this country to one of the fastest growing economies in Africa and beyond, a personality who is an introvert serving his bosses then with great humility, and being an ambivert when his experiences are calculated and evaluated. He is a personality who is ready to speak the truth even if that truth goes against him. A man during 2018 presidential debate, despite his representation of the ruling party then, when asked as to who was responsible for the people’s suffering in the country, with no deviation from such a question, no hesitation to speak the truth with no elements of spinning, to the surprise of many, he said the government then was to be blamed. Could you imagine that? despite of that true confession, but as a result of people wanting to score political goals against him used that as a tool of campaign against him. Despite that, he still holds his grouds to profess the type of man he is, trying to be truthful to his people despite of politicians being branded as liars, but instead, he chooses to be exceptionally different.
Since that slogan of “you Sabi am,” today he has become one of the most popular Sierra Leonean politicians, a gem in the political landscape that devoid of his intimidations, humiliations, attacks and all from the ruling government, he is still who he is. He has become a house hold name that is worth emulating because of his resilience, humility, respect, tolerance concern and all the goodies you can think of. In a moment when the main opposition is not given enough space to thrive, yet Dr Samura Kamara still stands to represent his party well in another general elections come 2023, if you have been doubting his ability, capability and zest to rule Sierra Leone, it is about time to surrender now and think Sierra Leone, because Dr Samura Kamara is Sierra Leone; simply because he has what Sierra Leone needs to transform to another level. He is a personality who can hear, feel, smell and see the cry of his countrymen and thus has a solution to the troubles that have confronted Sierra Leone.
Despite the change of the APC constitution from selection to election, there is a clear manifestation that Dr Samura Kamara has not only won the support of his fellow party men, but also those not within the confines of the party. Without a discredit to other flagbearer aspirants for the All People’s Congress, APC party, Dr Samura Kamara is presently the most outstanding, the fittest, and we’ll established political figure within the party, and at large the country, for he has dedicated his time, resources, energy and what have you to unseat the incumbent government of Dr Julius Maada Bio, who is calling for a repeat as a result of failing to live up to the expectations of the people. For as long as I know, and believe others know, in this so called free quality education, there will be no space to repeat for people who fail abysmally, but to give them never return (NR).
As barely months to the all awaited 2023 general elections, Dr Samura Kamara is done and dusted; for with him, the future will be bright for Sierra Leoneans. With Dr Samura Kamara, Sierra Leoneans are good to go; for he is the Messiah, the redeemer and the way forward for the people of Sierra Leone. I cannot wait, you cannot wait, we cannot wait to see Dr Samura Kamara leads the mantle of leadership come June 24 next year. With Dr Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, ” we nor only Sabi am, we over Sabi am say na the next president of Sierra Leone.”
