A humanitarian Non-Governmental Organization CODE Sierra Leone with support from Global Partnership for education through Unicef and partners is rolling out Training to 3,514 teachers in Kenema, Moyamba, Pujehun and Port Loko districts in the country.
Speaking to the press in Kenema Lamim Sesay Program Coordinator described the session as refresher session for the teachers referring to it as training and supporting teachers in Sierra Leone.
He said all and sundry are working together to improve the early grade reading and mathematics skills of primary pupils in grade 1 to 3 which he said is the most important classes in the educational ladder if children are to progress.
He said in the phase 2 session the project will continue to improve on the ability to effectively teach children to read, write and do early grade mathematics.
He said goal for the current season include review 2021_2022 teacher and children’s assessment results, Receive new P1,P2 and P3 readers. Develop principles for our best use of the books for children,s reading abilities. Practice and review basic lesson planning and early grade reading strategies. This include EGM lesson planning. Practice and review early grade literacy and numeracy teaching strategies. Plan your school teacher learning Circle meeting and agreed on how they will safely use and store their books.
The team will continue rolling out similar sessions for the other districts.
