It has pleased Her Excellency, Sallaymatu Jagitay, the President elect of the Student Union Government in the Institute of Public Administration (IPAM) to appoint Ms. Hawanatu Bangura as Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, after her profile has been thoroughly scrutinized by the President.

Ms. Hawanatu Bangura, entered the Institute of Public Administration (IPAM) in 2020/2021 academic year to pursue a Diploma in the Public Sector, and which she completed and her final transcript shows she scored 3.25.   Because of her desire for education and the love for the Public Sector, she decided to pursue her degree at the same Public Sector Management and she is now in Yr2.

Her appointment as Deputy Minister of Information and Communications has brought a lot of applause in all the academic learning institutions in Sierra Leone, and that the IPAM SU President was very thoughtful to appoint her executive to leadership positions more especially when she included someone like Ms. Hawanatu Bangura as Deputy Minister of Information.

“She is a born leader, and she has inspired many young people to be like her,” said Isatu Kamara.

At IPAM, Hawanatu Bangura is the Chairperson for Ethics and Integrity Club – One of the professional clubs at the University there. The club focuses purely on ethics, promoting peace amongst colleagues  students who may later fill in the working places. She said that the Ethics and Integrity Club also teaches how students to know individual rights and limitations to such rights more especially when such right goes with responsibilities. According to her said that the club does not have any Black and White ideology. She was also appointed as Class Rep at the Public Sector Management and   that position was being nominated by a colleague who has known her leadership prowess.

In her national leadership, the astute Deputy Minister of Information and Communications is currently the Hon. Vice President of the Sierra Leone Debating Council a position that was given to her because over the years she has demonstrated high commitment to the debating council by moving with its objective as it was referenced in by her appointment letter.

“With your proven track records of consistency, commitment to the growth of the chapter and astute leadership charisma, you are appointed to serve in the capacity of Vice President to the Chapter,” referenced the appointment letter reads.

Before going to the University of Sierra Leone, Ms. Hawanatu Bangura attended the Kulafai Rashideen Community Primary School where she sat the National Primary School Exams (NPSE) and scored aggregate 303. When she proceeded to the Government Rokel Junior then she was also appointed Head Girl in the school. She held several positions in the school also including PRO News Journal and also participated in different competitions such as the spelling B.

Our current Deputy Minister of Information and Communications was   born on the 17th of November, 2002 from an Islamic home. Her father’s named Imam Abdulai Bangura an Islamic Teacher and her mother’s name Emmah Turay a Petty Trader. The current Deputy Minister of Information has friends in all of the academic learning institutions.

When asked what her challenges were during her leadership, she said that challenges are meant for human beings and therefore, one must stand firm to overcome them.

Government of Sierra Leone under the Ministry of Higher and Technical Education should give international school to people like Ms. Hawanatu Bangura because the government will not regret at the end.
