Ambassador Omrie Golley, who is a popular politician from Pujehun District, and until recently was a leading candidate for the presidential flagbearer ticket of the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) party on Friday 7th April 2023 donated the sum of Le 40,000,000 (forty million old Leones) to the APC executive in Pujehun District.

The donation was made at the party office in Pujehun Town, Southern Province of the Republic of Sierra Leone and it is geared towards making the party more visible in that region of the country by filing candidates for nomination into the positions of District Council Chairman, Members of Parliaments and Councillors.

During the donation, Ambassador Omrie Golley stressed his commitment towards the party as well as doing everything within his might to support the party’s 2023 presidential candidate Dr. Samura Matthew Wilson Kamara. He said one of the ways he believes he will start by supporting the party is by ensuring that all wards and constituencies in his home district of Pujehun have APC candidates representing them. He said the funds provided should also be utilized to give women more space in the running for the APC symbol at all levels.

Ambassador Omrie Golley further called for a peaceful electioneering process and used the opportunity to charge the people to collect their voters ID Cards so as to vote for the party robustly in the June 2023 general elections.

Responding, Chairman of APC in Pujehun District, Mohamed Amadu Sesay (Dr Woo) said the donation is really timely. He said the district had faced financial challenges with regards getting all the candidates they needed for the various positions. He called on the potential aspirants to now form forces with one another so as to get the party to win several seats in the district in the upcoming general elections.

Meanwhile, Issa Soko Tarawally Jnr, APC Pujehun District Public Relations Officer (PRO) spoke highly about the fatherly role Ambassador Omrie Golley has played in the district in order to consolidate the interest and vision of the party. He said, Ambassador Omrie Golley has in fact already paid for the rent and funded the renovation of the party office in Constituency 101, Zimmi Town, Makpele Chiefdom. He also confirmed that Ambassador Omrie Golley supported the party during the wards, constituencies, districts, and regional, and National Delegate Conference elections with huge funding.

Hence, the APC District PRO thanked Ambassador Golley for the fatherly role he has exhibited and assured that with his leadership, the people of Pujehun and the south as a whole will vote massively for the APC party.

Meanwhile, after the donation, it is also worth mentioning that Ambassador Omrie Golley stopped by the Pujehun Town Central Mosque for Friday Jummah Prayer and where he donated Ramadan Sunakati to the people in the form of bags of rice, gallons of oil, sugar, and salt. The token was appreciated by the people and was shared with the fasting poor and needy.
