A national nongovernmental organization, the Agency for Integrated Development of Sierra Leone (AIDSL), is implementing the action “Promoting economic and social rights and empowering women and youths in southern and eastern Sierra Leone’, funded by the European Union. AID SL, which is the coordinating body for the project implementation, has handed over three brand new Toyota Hilux to the partner beneficiaries, the Movement towards Peace and Development (MoPADA) Bonthe District and Kailahun District Councils, to empower them, thereby ensuring quality service delivery to the nation.
Movement towards Peace and Development Agency, Kailahun District Council, Bonthe District Council, and AIDSL as lead partners are beneficiaries of the current support from the European Union delegation for a 30-month project from February 2023 to July 2025.
He further revealed that the project will promote economic and social rights and empower women and youth in the southern and eastern regions of the nation, specifically Bonthe and Kailahun districts.
Maada Koroma, Project Manager of AID-SL, said in his contribution that the project targeted groups are vulnerable women, youth CBOs, National Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), members of women CBOs, faith-based organizations, traditional rulers, and the media, which are all key in terms of advocating for access to gender mainstreaming, women empowerment, youth development, and Paramount Chiefs as custodians of land, which will help to monitor activities that are implemented in various communities.
The Fourth Estate ensures that women’s and children’s voices are stronger than before. Training, workshops, and advocacy to teach all how to become self-reliant and contribute to good governance.
