The Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) has over the weekend paid the sum of Nle 3.33 million as compensation to 370 Project Affected Persons (PAPs) for the reconstruction of the Tikonko-Kpetema Mattru Jong Road Project, Lot 2.

The compensation is made to enable individuals who have properties and crops within the road corridor to relocate without experiencing major shocks to their livelihoods.

The payments were done at the Bumpeh, Kpetema, and Serabu court barrays in the presence of representatives from civil society, the Anti-Corruption Commission, and the Audit Service of Sierra Leone.

Lot Two of the project spans from Tikonko Junction to Kpetema to Moryoh Junction to Serabu. It is funded by the Arab Bank of Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and the Government of Sierra Leone.

The scope of work involves the reconstruction of the entire road to an all-weather asphaltic concrete surface with drainage and traffic signs.

The civil works are to be completed in 24 months with a 12-month defect liability period. The procurement process is currently ongoing.
