APC Tonkolili District Chairman Endorses Party Registration Process

By Richmond B. Tholley

The Tonkolili District Chairman of the All People’s Congress, Dr. Samuel Bangura, has, during the official launching of the party’s forthcoming registration and verification in the northern city of Makeni, endorsed the process, calling it legal, timely, and a positive move towards the party’s victory and success.

The leadership of the party met at the regional headquarters on Saturday, 10 August 2024, to launch the registration and verification process that will soon commence at district level.

It could be recalled that a section of the APC membership across the country has refused to take part in the registration process since it was announced by the party leadership. This came about after many grassroots supporters say the leadership has failed to hold the government accountable for allegedly rigging the country’s last election that brought in President Julius Maada Bio for the second term. The majority of the APC party supporters said they wanted electoral justice first instead of engaging in membership registration.

Contrary to the many sentiments by his party comrades, Dr. Bangura said the party membership in Tonkolili District has endorsed the people, and he called on others to cooperate with the leadership for a successful registration and verification. Though the party is currently faced with a plethora of challenges and wranglings, the chairman warned his comrades not to allow those impasses to deter the registration and verification process.

This is because Dr. Bangura said registration is not only one of the criteria for becoming a member of every organization, but it’s also one of the ways of raising funds for the sustainability of any organization. Currently, the determination of every APC party member, the erudite politician said,, must be to move ahead and to ensure the party wins the next election and goes back to the State House. The party, he said, has structures and legitimate leadership and members must make sure they respect those structures that bind the party together.

“And one of the structures of the APC party is registration,” he said.

It’s therefore important for everyone to cooperate with the leadership, the chairman added.

“How would you take part in any of the party’s electoral process if you’re not legally registered? It’s only when you are a registered member of the party that you can vote and be voted for,” Dr. Bangura warned party members.

For the APC membership in Tonkolili District, the Chairman has endorsed the process because it’s legal and a positive move towards victory. He emphasizes that the entire membership in Tonkolili will cooperate with the leadership of the party to ensure the registration process is successful. As the district chairman, Dr. Bangura said he would ensure all constituency chairpersons and other executive members cooperate throughout the process.

Dr. Samuel Bangura is a seasoned administrator admired by many in Tonkolili District, especially among young people. During his time as Director of SALWACO, he ensured that the majority of communities in and outside the District of Tonkolili benefited. It was more of the reason he was elected the party’s political head in the district.
