Cosenza Calcio, an Italian Serie B club, has announced the signing of striker Mohamed Sankoh on a season-long loan from Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart. The 20-year-old Sierra Leonean international will become the third player from the West African nation to feature in Italy’s second tier this campaign, joining Cesena’s Augustus Kargbo and Salernitana’s Yayah Kallon.
The arrival of Sankoh is seen as a coup for Cosenza, who are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The young forward, who has previously spent time on loan with Dutch club Excelsior Rotterdam, will be hoping to make a significant impact in the Italian league and continue his development.
Cosenza’s manager expressed his delight at securing Sankoh’s services, stating, “Mohamed is a talented and versatile forward who will add depth and quality to our attacking options. We believe he has the potential to make a real difference for us this season, and we’re excited to work with him.”
Sankoh, who has represented Sierra Leone at the international level, will be looking to follow in the footsteps of his compatriots Kargbo and Kallon, who have both made an impression in the Italian Serie B in recent years.
The signing of Sankoh is a positive step for Cosenza, as they aim to improve upon their finish in the previous season and challenge for promotion to the top-flight Serie A.
