By Alhaji Musa Barrie, JNJF

The Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation (JNJF) is dedicated to providing support to widows in Freetown who are facing challenges in caring for their families after the loss of their husbands. Many of these widows lack resources to start their own businesses and are in need of financial support.

Recently, the foundation gave used clothes to two widows, Kadie Seah and Fatu Mbayoh, to help them kick-start their business ventures. The foundation’s field staff member, Hawa Bintu Dauda, encouraged the women to seize the opportunity and assured them of the foundation’s ongoing support if they were able to generate income from the goods.

This effort is part of the foundation’s broader mission to empower less privileged women and widows by providing them with the means to become self-sufficient through entrepreneurship. By supporting these women in launching their own businesses, the foundation aims to help them break free from the cycle of poverty and provide for their families.

Ms. Seah and Ms. Mbayoh expressed deep gratitude for the foundation’s support, emphasizing the significant impact it has had on their lives. They highlighted that before the foundation’s assistance, they lacked the capital to start businesses, but with the foundation’s support, they now have the means to become self-reliant and provide for their families.

The Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation’s approach to humanitarianism centers on creating sustainable change by providing widows with the tools and resources to achieve economic independence. Through various programs such as providing start-up capital and offering financial literacy training, the foundation aims to build resilience and empower these women to create a better future for themselves and their families.

The impact of these initiatives is evident in the renewed hope and optimism of the widows who benefit from them. The foundation’s assistance not only provides them with the means to earn a living but also restores their dignity and sense of purpose as they embark on their entrepreneurial journeys.

The Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation’s commitment to empowering vulnerable women showcases the enduring power of compassion and solidarity. Such initiatives underscore the importance of collective efforts in driving meaningful change and uplifting humanity, especially in challenging times.
