Honourable Emanuel Saidu Conteh, former (2018-2023) All People’s Congress (APC) party lawmaker representing constituency 129 (Tengbeh Town, Congo Town) on Friday 29th November; 2024 survived a brutal assailant attack on his life but sustained grievous bodily injuries to the head, mouth and body.
Speaking from his hospital bed at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Connaught Hospital, Hon. Conteh said that he was at his Congo Cross office on Friday at about 3pm when a medium height assailant dressed in grey hoody entered and shut the door on him.
He said in split seconds, the assailant pulled an old rusty Knife attempting to stab him on the neck.
He said by the intervention of God, he was able to dodge the stabbing and a brutal fight ensued during which he was able to fend off the attacker by twisting his one hand and caused the knife to fell.
The former lawmaker and businessman, Hon. Saidu said while they were wrestling, the knife dropped from the assailant’s hand but he quickly grabbed a glass mug which he used to hit him severally on the head, choking him on the throat and biting him on the arm.
He said the fight continued for some twenty to twenty five minutes while he covered in blood and almost helpless, the assailant left him for dead after stabbing him on his head.
“Thinking that I won’t be able to live, the assailant took my phone, wallet and other personal belongs and left. I had to crawl for the door where a lady who was passing by, heard my call for help and came to my rescue,” he said.
Hon. Saidu is still hospitalised and responding to treatment for injuries on his head, face, mouth and trauma after the heinous attack.
The police are investigating the incident and have not ruled out murder as motives for the crime.
“I am appealing to the government to provide security for people like me. I am feeling seriously unsecured and that is my paramount concern for now. I don’t feel safe with my family,” he said.
The former MP has been very quiet politically focusing on his fishing company that is doing very well.
