The jogging event organized on Saturday, December 28th, 2024, in the Falaba and Koinadugu Districts demonstrated Dr. Kaifala Marah’s unique approach to connecting with his constituents.

The event was not merely a physical activity but a symbolic gesture of unity, empowerment, and Dr. Marah’s commitment to fostering development through unconventional means.

A turnout like no other event, thousands of enthusiastic participants, ranging from youth to elderly citizens, gathered to honor their “son of the soil.” This massive turnout reflects Dr. Marah’s influence and the deep-rooted respect he commands in his community. The streets of Kabala were alive with energy as participants donned sportswear and displayed banners expressing their support and pride.

The event included a 10-kilometer marathon that began at the district’s central marketplace and concluded at the town’s main field. Participants ran, jogged, and walked together, dancing, showcasing a spirit of camaraderie that transcended age, gender, and political affiliations.

Drawing parallels with global practices, Dr. Marah’s use of sports mirrors trends observed in Western politics, particularly in the United States, where sports events often serve as platforms for political engagement. By focusing on activities that resonate with ordinary citizens, Dr. Marah is creating a legacy that integrates politics with community development.

While some critics speculated about the political undertones of the event, many participants emphasized that it was purely a celebration of unity and respect. “This is not about the influence of the SLPP or the APC,” said one marathon runner. “It’s a district event, a chance to honor Dr. Kaifala Marah for his dedication to our community.”

Away from the event. Dr. Marah himself addressed the crowd through his media team, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support. “Sports is not just a recreational activity; it’s a powerful tool to bring people together and inspire progress. Today’s turnout shows the strength and unity of Falaba District and Koinadugo District,” he stated.

Dr. Marah’s vision extends beyond political ambitions. By organizing such events, he seeks to highlight the importance of youth engagement, physical fitness, and community solidarity.

This event is expected to be the first of many as Dr. Marah and his team plan to expand such initiatives to other districts. By leveraging sports and community-driven activities, Dr. Marah is setting a new standard for political engagement in Sierra Leone.
