The Sierra Leone Basketball Federation (SLBF) has taken a significant step forward in the development of sports infrastructure in the country. The federation is on the verge of constructing an indoor basketball court in Aberdeen, a move that is expected to boost the growth of basketball in Sierra Leone.

During a recent site visit, SLBF President Alie Hijazi assessed the proposed location for the project, which is projected to be completed within the next three years.

The delegation also included Dr. Abdul Rahman Swarray and Director Stevens from the National Sports Authority (NSA), who expressed their support for the initiative.

Hijazi used the occasion to appeal to the NSA to engage the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Lands to accelerate necessary documentation, for the project to commence as scheduled.

This project represents a substantial investment in the country’s sports infrastructure, providing athletes with a state-of-the-art facility and promoting the overall development of basketball in Sierra Leone.

The construction of the indoor court is expected to have a positive impact on the sport’s popularity and participation, ultimately contributing to the growth of the basketball community in the country.
