The Marampa Mines Limited (MML) marked a significant milestone on the 24th of January, 2025, with the commissioning of its M3.75 Expansion Project and a generous presentation of the Community Development Fund (CDF). The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries and key figures who highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment.

Jasmin Roberts, VP head of Energy Solutions and Executive Board Member of the Marampa Mines Limited (MML), expressed pride in the company’s dedication to gender diversity, noting that thirty percent of the workforce comprises women. This commitment to diversity and inclusion sets a positive example for the industry and the community at large.

Professor Sheik Umar Kamarah, Director of Community Relations at MML, emphasized the historic significance of the occasion, acknowledging the pivotal role played by H.E. President Bio in advocating for community development initiatives. The partnership between MML and the local communities of Marampa and Maforki has led to tangible benefits, including job creation, educational opportunities, and sustainable development projects.

The US Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Bryan David Hunt, commended Marampa Mines for its contributions to community development and economic growth. The partnership between MML and Sierra Leone has not only benefited the local community but has also strengthened ties between the two nations, leading to mutual prosperity and collaboration.

In his keynote address, President Julius Maada Bio expressed gratitude to MML for its investment in Sierra Leone and its commitment to social responsibility. The company’s initiatives, such as providing jobs, scholarships, and vocational training, have had a positive impact on the local community, empowering individuals and fostering human capital development.

Highlighting the company’s ongoing support for community development, President Bio announced a substantial increase in the Community Development Fund contribution, with a cheque of $3.7 million being handed over to beneficiaries for the fiscal years 2023 and 2024. This significant investment reflects MML’s dedication to fostering sustainable growth and partnership with the community.
