Abacha City, the newcomers to the Leone Rock Premier League, have defied expectations and emerged as one of the league’s most formidable teams this season. After a crushing defeat in their top-flight debut against Wilberforce FC, many had written off the team’s chances of success. However, for those who have followed their journey from the lower divisions, their current form comes as no surprise.
Last season, Abacha City dominated the regional Division 1, finishing as the top scorers with an impressive 40 goals, the highest in the country at the time. Their attacking prowess continued in the national playoffs, where they netted 12 goals, once again emerging as the highest-scoring team.
This success has carried over into the Leone Rock Premier League, where Abacha City stands as the league’s top scorer with 12 goals so far. Their recent 2-1 victory against Freetown City FC has further cemented their position as a force to be reckoned with in the top flight.
Despite being tipped for a relegation battle, Abacha City has proven that they have the skill and determination to compete at the highest level. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on this exciting newcomer as they continue to defy expectations and climb the league table.
