Mercury International Chief Finance Officer (CFO), Ekundayo E Rowe, on Saturday 8th February, presented the championship title to the first-ever Sierra Leone Billiards and Snookers Association champion at the Kabana Club, Lumley Beach, Freetown.

The Mercury CFO who represented the MD, while presenting the trophy to the inaugural winner, Eid Ahmed, said, as a company, they are proud to sponsor the tournament and see Sierra Leoneans explore their sporting talents in other sporting disciplines.

“Our support for the Sierra Leone Billiards and Snookers Association championship shows we are not only doing this for football, but we want to explore new avenues of sporting disciplines and help them grow,” Rowe said.

Ekundayo Rowe further stated that they were pleased to see the massive turnout of people embracing a new sport, and the performance of the competitors proved it was not an easy tournament but a competitive one.

The prestigious Billiards and Snooker tournament showcased exceptional skill and sportsmanship and culminated in a thrilling final match that kept spectators, including the Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James Teima, Managing Director of Rokel Bank, Dr. Walton Ekundayo Gilpin, and others on the edge. A captivating display of precision and strategy, the winner claimed the title amidst cheers and applause, marking a significant achievement in the competitive world of cue sports.
