Staffs from the Gola Rainforest Conservation Limited by Guarantee (GRCLG) are touring the seven chiefdoms that make up the national park in the East and Southern regions of the country.

Fomba Amara Kanneh is the head of GRCLG and is overseeing the payment of royalty to beneficiaries.

Speaking to the press in Jojoima town, Malema Chiefdom, Kailahun district, disclosed that GRCLG is operating in Bari and Makpele Chiefdoms in Pujehun district, Southern region; Malema Chiefdom in Kailahun district; and Nomo, Gaura, Tunkia, and Koya Chiefdoms in Kenema district, Eastern Sierra Leone.
GRCLG is operating in 122 communities and paying royalties to 243 beneficiaries of the seven chiefdoms that connect to the national park.

He points out that for the 2025 royalty payment, with support from the government and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), they are giving out 1,232,009 NL to the targeted beneficiaries.

Under the school supports,
610 school supports of the Forest Edge communities’ FECs.
868 Chiefdom scholarships,
28 University Scholarships: each student received 11,250 NL.
Royalty payments also go to the
7 Paramount chiefs,
7 Chiefdom Speakers,
7 Mammy Queens,
39 section chiefs,
122 town chiefs of the Forest Edge communities.
GRCLG also engaged in rehabilitation and infrastructural development, like the construction of bridges, schools, and health centres, among others.
GRC also provides special livelihood forest-friendly cocoa development projects and IVS and VSLA project support to 122 FECs.
He called on the beneficiaries to continue protecting the forest and to make good use of the support received.
