We reliably learned that several raids have been conducted on both residences of Alie Sahid Bangura and John Bangura, and people who know them across the township, to get hold of them.
However, Alie Sahid Bangura’s miraculous escape has not stopped the youths and religious leaders in the community from continuously hunting him. Alie Sahid Bangura’s photos as a wanted person have been distributed to all police stations, including border points into neighbouring countries, to be arrested if seen.
According to reports, Alie Sahid Bangura and John Bangura, a homosexual couple, were brutally attacked at No. 8 Mountain Cut community and faced death threats in the aftermath of the incident in Freetown.
Alie Sahid Bangura and his partner, John Bangura, are both residents of different neighbourhoods in Freetown.
The incident sheds light on the dangers faced by individuals in the LGBTQ+ community in a society where homosexuality is still considered taboo and condemned.
However, the penalty for LGBTQ or bisexual offences is ten years minimum imprisonment in Sierra Leone, or face mob justice by angry Sierra Leoneans.
