The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) wishes to inform the general public that it has filed an indictment against SAIDU IBRAHIM SAHR KANNEH, a teacher of Sierra International Secondary School and of No. 15 Powells Street, Burma 4 in Kenema, Eastern Region. He is indicted on 8 (EIGHT) COUNTS of corruption offences.

SAIDU IBRAHIM SAHR KANNEH is indicted on 3 (THREE) COUNTS OF ACADEMIC MALPRACTICE and 3 (THREE) COUNTS OF CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT A CORRUPTION OFFENCE contrary to Section 128(3) and Section 128(1) respectively of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 12 of 2008 as amended by the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Act No. 9 of 2019. He also faces 2 (TWO) COUNTS OF ACCEPTING AN ADVANTAGE, contrary to Section 28(2)(A) of the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Act No. 9 of 2019.

According to the particulars of the offence, SAIDU IBRAHIM SAHR KANNEH was apprehended by ACC monitoring team while he was delivering written answers to candidates during the conduct of the WASSCE (West African Senior School Certificate Examination) Chemistry Essay Paper 2 at Karlkunle Senior Secondary School in Kenema on Thursday, 22nd May 2025.

Investigations revealed that SAIDU IBRAHIM SAHR KANNEH had collected examination booklets from certain candidates during the exam and answered the questions on their behalf. He was also found in possession of other examination materials.

Further investigations established that SAIDU IBRAHIM SAHR KANNEH had received sums of money from candidates MORRISON VANDI AND HAWA NGEGBA, both of Modern African Progressive Secondary School, as payment to write the Chemistry examination for them. KANNEH, by his own confession, admitted to the offences and pleaded for forgiveness.

The Commission wishes to reassure the general public of its unwavering commitment to protecting the integrity of public examinations in Sierra Leone, and to curbing all forms of academic malpractice and corruption in the education sector.

For further enquiries on this and other ACC matters, please contact Sylvanus Blake, Deputy Director, Public Education and Outreach Department on +23278501520 or via email info@anticorruption.gov.sl.
