Afrikonet.sl has become one of the leading e-commerce websites in Sierra Leone, helping people buy and sell products easily through their phones and computers.

The platform, which officially launched in May 2025, allows local businesses, traders, and individuals to showcase their products and connect with customers across the country. From clothing and electronics to household items and food products, Afrikonet has created a trusted space for online shopping in Sierra Leone.

Speaking at the launch, company representatives said Afrikonet was designed to support local businesses and make online trade simple and safe. “Afrikonet is built for Sierra Leone. We want to make it easy for people to buy and sell online without stress,” the team said.

The platform can be accessed through its website Afrikonet.sl and mobile apps available on both Android and iOS. It allows sellers to upload photos of their products, set prices, and manage their shops online, while buyers can browse and order items from anywhere in the country.

Eco-friendly Delivery System

Afrikonet.sl has also introduced an environmentally friendly delivery system to make its operations more sustainable. The company uses electric bikes for deliveries, helping to reduce carbon emissions. Packaging materials used for deliveries are recycled and eco-friendly, showing Afrikonet’s commitment to protecting the environment while serving customers efficiently.

“Afrikonet is not just about online shopping; it’s about doing business responsibly,” said one of the company’s representatives. “We want to make sure that as we grow, we also take care of our environment.”

Supporting Local Growth

Afrikonet’s founders believe the platform will change how people shop in Sierra Leone by reducing the distance between sellers and buyers. “A small business in Kenema or Makeni can now reach customers in Freetown without opening a shop there,” one of the team members explained.

Since its launch, the platform has gained strong attention from both local and international users. Many sellers have said it has helped them increase sales and attract new customers. Since its launch in May this year, over 2,000 customers have already joined the platform. This shows how ready Sierra Leoneans are for a reliable online marketplace.

Afrikonet.sl provides a simple and secure payment system that works for everyone. Buyers can pay using:

○ Orange Money

○ Afrimoney

○ Debit Card

○ Payment on Delivery

Experts say Afrikonet is a big step toward growing Sierra Leone’s digital economy. It gives people, especially young entrepreneurs, a chance to earn income through online business and helps connect rural and urban markets.

With internet access and mobile payments becoming more common, Afrikonet is seen as a key player in shaping the future of online shopping in Sierra Leone.
