One Mobile, the Leading Mobile Company, Pioneers 5G Network in West Africa
On the 13th November, 2025, at Wilkinson Road, Freetown. One Mobile has launched the first standalone 5G network in West Africa.
David Jpakima, Senior Executive at One Mobile, expressed the company’s pride in this historic achievement. “For the first time in West Africa, we are providing pure 5G data that our customers can use for WhatsApp calls, video messaging, and any other data-intensive applications,” he said.
Jpakima highlighted that One Mobile has been working on this project for the past 120 days, and the results have been impressive. “We have studied the industry and understood the problems faced by Sierra Leoneans. We have solved the issues of network quality and voice services, and now we are connecting the community with our fast and reliable 5G data network.”
According to Steven Koker, senior executive, One Mobile has focused on providing excellent customer service and transparency. “We are truly unlimited, and we have also introduced the Alafia Mifi, a 5G router that offers lightning-fast internet speeds,” he said.
Cyril Macualey, who is the vault, and the operators emphasised the company’s commitment to serve the people of Sierra Leone.
He said when it comes to network quality, they are ready to serve the people.
“We offer the fastest internet with the best prices in town, and our subscription process is easier than ever before,” he pointed out.
Susanta Shome, the Chief Technology Officer, shared the company’s plans for the future. “We have already covered Freetown, Bo, Kenema, Makeni, and Lungi with our 5G network, and we are planning to expand our coverage to more areas in the coming months,” he said.
