Conakry, Guinea, 17 January 2026 – His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio has joined other Heads of State and world leaders at the inauguration ceremony of the President-elect of the Republic of Guinea, H.E. President Mamady Doumbouya, held at the Stade Général Lansana Conté in Conakry.
President Doumbouya, who was elected following a period of political transition, was sworn in as President, reaffirming Guinea’s commitment to democratic governance and constitutional order.
In his inaugural address, the President pledged to strengthen democratic institutions, uphold the rule of law, promote inclusion, particularly for women and youth and enhance Guinea’s engagement within the international community.
The ceremony underscored regional aspirations for peace, stability, and cooperative political transitions, in line with ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance.
Sierra Leone and Guinea continue to enjoy strong bilateral relations rooted in shared history, cultural ties, and cooperation in trade, digital connectivity, and regional integration.
President Bio’s attendance highlights Sierra Leone’s support for regional solidarity and its commitment to strengthening democratic governance within the region.
The inauguration was attended by several Heads of State and senior representatives from Africa and beyond, including leaders from Senegal, The Gambia, Rwanda, Mauritania, Gabon, Mali, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, China, the African Union, and ECOWAS.
