Peace of Mind Ventures, ICONA and MiKashBoks have signed a new agreement aimed at helping ordinary Sierra Leoneans save money and buy home appliances through a structured digital platform.

The agreement brings together Peace of Mind Ventures, a registered company in Sierra Leone, appliance retailer ICONA, and MiKashBoks, a digital social finance platform. Peace of Mind Ventures initiated the idea and approached both ICONA and MiKashBoks with the proposal. The goal is to help people save gradually and buy products they need without taking on heavy debt.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Managing Partner of Peace of Mind Ventures, Murtala Mohamed Kamara, said he was happy to be part of what he described as a historic moment. He said the partnership will help many people save money through MiKashBoks and finally get their dream products.

ICONA’s Marketing Manager, Kai Saquee, said the partnership reflects changes in Sierra Leone’s business environment. He noted that companies must now think beyond high income earners and create solutions for petty traders, students, office workers and other everyday citizens.

MiKashBoks, also known as MKB, operates as a digital platform that allows individuals and groups to save money securely. The company is regulated by the Bank of Sierra Leone, and customer funds are held with Ecobank. Users can deposit money through mobile money services such as Orange Money and Afrimoney.

Shalton Massally, Chief Technology Officer and Founder of MiKashBoks, said the partnership comes at the right time. He explained that many petty traders and informal workers struggle with irregular income. The platform gives them a simple way to save small amounts over time until they can afford items like freezers, washing machines and televisions.

Joshua Kanu, Business Development Manager for ICONA, compared the digital savings model to the traditional savings box used in many Sierra Leonean homes. He said MiKashBoks is a modern version of that culture, supported by technology.

Under the new “save to buy” feature, customers can select a product from ICONA and begin paying in small amounts through the MiKashBoks platform. Once the full amount is paid, the product is delivered. This model allows customers to avoid borrowing first and paying later.

Jayesh Pardhi, Country Director of ICONA, said the two companies share a common goal of supporting the people of Sierra Leone. He added that ICONA will continue to work closely with MiKashBoks to strengthen the initiative.

Kelvin Logan, Customer Success Lead at MiKashBoks, said the company also aims to support a more cashless economy in Sierra Leone. He stressed that security remains central to the platform’s operations.

For many families who cannot afford to pay for appliances in one installment, the partnership offers a new path. By saving bit by bit, customers can now work towards owning household items that once seemed out of reach.

If embraced by the public, the collaboration between Peace of Mind Ventures, ICONA and MiKashBoks could help expand financial inclusion and create more access to essential home products across Sierra Leone.
