Sierra Leonean FIFA Centre Referee Aminata Fullah and Assistant Referee Agnes Gbla successfully officiated the opening match of the WAFU Zone A U-20 Women’s Championship between Guinea-Bissau and Liberia, which ended 2-1 in favour of Liberia.
Fullah has been selected as the official face of refereeing for the entire tournament, featuring prominently on all WAFU Zone A official materials and promotional content.
This recognition marks a significant moment for women’s football officiating in West Africa and positions Sierra Leone at the forefront of female referee development in the region.
The appointment of Fullah and Gbla to oversee the tournament opener demonstrates the growing confidence in Sierra Leonean match officials on the continental stage and serves as an inspiration for aspiring female referees across the nation.
