Lens captured their first major silverware in 25 years with a commanding 3-1 victory over OGC. Nice in the Coupe de France final, bringing jubilation to their long-suffering supporters, who have waited since 1999 for this moment.
For Nice defender Juma Bah, it was bittersweet as he watched from the substitutes’ bench while his former club secured their maiden Coupe de France trophy. The young defender, who made the switch from Lens to Nice earlier in his career, could only look on as his old teammates celebrated a historic achievement.
The victory represents a watershed moment for Lens, who have endured years of near-misses and disappointments since their last major honour β the Ligue 1 title in 1998 and the Coupe de la Ligue in 1999. This triumph not only ends their trophy drought but also secures European football for next season.
