Aminata Sesay is a household name in Lokomsama and Kamasondo Chiefdoms and even beyond when one counts her development strides and the benefits she brings to every age in the two sister chiefdoms.
Over the years, this great woman has a caring heart and the love for the two chiefdoms, and her developments have inspired many young people including this writer.
She is always desired to do more until her development touches the downtrodden. Her developments focused on Health, Micro Finance, Agriculture, Education and many more.
In 2018, it is on record when she built one of the most standards and equipped hospitals in Konta Wallah, Lokomsama Chiefdom, Port Loko District that one still compares such facilities of the hospital to any big town in the country. The opening ceremony was graced by Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh of the Republic of Sierra Leone and such an event was still considered one of the biggest in the two sister chiefdoms since SLPP took over power in 2018.
The hospital attracted a reputable trained and qualified Community Health Officer (CHO) by the name of Salia Sowa and other nurses.
Today, over 30 villages access the facilities of this hospital that was named after her late Mother Haja Fatu Kargbo -Nee Sesay who died in 2014.
“I enjoy working as a nurse in this part of the chiefdom,” Nurse Mariatu Conteh said.
When she took me through the facilities of the hospital, all the different sections of the hospital she took me were kept tidy. The hospital recording system of documents is second to none in the sense that every visiting patient in the hospital has their records on the track.
Abdul Conteh, one of the stakeholders narrated that Aminata Sesay is among the few people in Sierra Leone who should be supported for her good work.
“Her development does not need return from people,” he maintained.
Now on Micro Finance, Aminata Sesay who believes that every woman should involve in business has also done greatly to support women in Micro Finance. His Excellency Retired Dr Julius Maada Bio Launched the MUNAFA Fund to support women such a wonderful project has got people like Aminata Sesay who complimented it through her own money to support women in that part of the country.
According to her the microfinance is specifically to volunteer women who desperate to contribute in their community growth and to build a future for their off springs/children.
The coordinator of her Micro Finance Project, Lamin Bangura in Konta Wallah said that 80% of women benefited from such microfinance.
“Lokomsama should be proud of such a woman because she is still desperate for her developments to touch almost everyone in the two chiefdoms,” he maintained. He further says that if this woman has more she could do more.
Some of the beneficiaries of Micro Finance said to me that they are very grateful for what Aminata Sesay is doing for her people in Lokomsama and Kamasondo.
In Agriculture, there is still evidence that Aminata Sesay is still supporting farmers through seedlings so that they could do their farming activities.
Lokomsama is among the chiefdom that contributed greatly to agriculture in Sierra Leone but over the years the main challenges of the farmers in the Chiefdom are to get viable seeds that yielded dividends.
“I myself engage in agriculture sector and because she believe in the power of people and ability to make positive change. I have a farm in Konta Wallah because I want to inspire others because she is running all this in a charity basis that give people hope that are not forgotten or abandoned,” she said.
She further maintains that, all these successes would have not come if the prayers she always asks to Allah to guide and give her strength to continue these projects.
According to this philanthropist, she said that agriculture is the backbone of the nation and if farmers are being assisted the country will have flourished with agricultural outputs and more export will take place and in returned importation will be and so there will be more foreign exchange where dollars will lose it values to the Leones.
The latest development of Aminata Sesay in Lokomsama and Kamasondo Chiefdom is the rehabilitation of Khodiza International Secondary School in Konta Wallah – A school that was established in 1968 under the SLMB Mission. It is believed that after the rehabilitation of the Khodiza International Secondary School by Aminata Sesay, the school will attract over 700 pupils drawn from 25 villages, including Mapethrr, Magbana and Rolal etc in the Konta Wallah Section.
Abdulai Mohamed Sankoh, the Head Teacher of Khodiza International School, said that the support for the rehabilitation of the school was as a result of a caring woman and according to him the support came from Madam Aminata Sesay and he called on the government to pay attention to Aminata Sesay because she believes in the New Direction Agenda of His Excellency ‘Tok En Do’ President.
The Coordinator for the rehabilitation of the Khodiza International School- which is a two-in-one building that is the Primary and Secondary School in Konta Wallah said that the love shown by Aminata Sesay to rehabilitate such a school to grade “A” school in the country cannot be overemphasized.
He also informed me that the ongoing rehabilitation of the primary school after completion, the structure will also accommodate the commencement of the JSS1 School.
The hospital, the primary school and now commence of JSS1 School, Microfinance to vulnerable women, desperate to contribute in their community growth and to build a future for their off springs/ children and the agriculture sector are the current developments done by Aminata Sesay.
“I myself engage in gaming because I believe in the power of people and their ability to make a positive change,” she mentioned.
She continued to say that she has a farm in Konta that she personally is running all on charity basis, that give this people hope that they are not forgotten or abandoned.
“I pray for Allah guide and strengthen me to continue these projects,” she said.
