The senior national team Leone Stars has conceded 7 goals in two friendlies against South Africa and DR Congo.
South Africa won by 4-0, while DR Congo thrashed us 3-0.
Coach John Keister said it is not about winning but about participation and identifying talent! Fans are angry about the team’s lack of progress.
At the start of this Afcon 2023, Leone Stars’ first game against Nigeria on 9 June ended in a loss. The match ended 2-1 in favour of Nigeria. On 13 June, Leone Stars drew against Guinea Bissau 2-2.
There are many who are calling for a new coach, one who is more technical and is ready to qualify the team.
With four games left in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Sierra Leone will have to play Lesotho in their back to back fixture, Guinea Bissau away to Bissau and Nigeria in their home. The team still has a chance of qualifying if the right thing is done.
