Sierra Leone under-19 will play their opening fixture against Rwanda, instead of Botswana, due to a rescheduled fixture on Saturday 1st October 2022.
The change of fixture was because of the late arrival of Botswana traveling protocols. An update on the adjusted fixture will be given in due course.
By means of preparation, Sierra Leone got their first training yesterday in Abuja on tournament soil at 1 pm Sierra Leonean time.
Francis Trevor Samura, Director of the Board of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association, said they arrived on Wednesday at 6:45 Pm in Abuja ahead of the tournament. He said they are well prepared to compete in this year’s competition.
“We are looking forward to qualifying for the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup.
“The ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier is a very tough zone but our boys are highly motivated to qualify especially the way the team arrived in Nigeria. The team has put everything that happened behind our backs. The boys are young lads who are ready to qualify Sierra Leone for major tournaments and this is the level they need to make their mark before moving to the National team. So, as Chairman, I am wishing them success in this year’s qualifiers,” he said.
