Today 22 October 2022 Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) Student’s Union Presidential Elections will be conducted virtually.

At a meeting held at the New Building Room 401, all six candidates were present to discuss this and other details of the elections.

The status report was made by various members of the elections committee who were tasked with specific responsibilities.

Mr. Donald Mackay, Warden of Students, informed the committee and candidates that he has engaged the services of the Sierra Leone Police. He said that the security personnel will be deployed on campus at the eve of the election slated for 22nd October 2022. He assured the gathering that the security of all is a paramount concern to the Administration.

Mr. Mackay Warden also informed the house that Dr. Tonya Musa, the Head of Media and External Outreach of the University of Sierra Leone has made the necessary arrangements with both the electronic and print media to cover the elections.

Mr. Ishmael Conteh, Deputy Head of the Students and Academic Affairs Department presented the final voters’ list to Presidential aspirants and the Chief Electoral Commissioner in the presence of the Election Committee. Candidates were given the opportunity to ask questions on the final list.

Mr. Alpha Bah, aka XL, Assistant to the IT officer from the IT department stated that upon receipt of the final voter’s list, the IT department will conduct a test. He assured the Presidential aspirants that the system is secure and free from hacking, thus the reason for the personal email and contact numbers of eligible voters.

Candidates were given the opportunity to choose the voting time. They recommended that voting starts at 8:00 A.M prompt and ends at 5:00pm on the Election Day.

It was also agreed that the Warden of Students (Mr. Donald Mackay) will have to initiate the voting.

The meeting was very interactive as candidates were asked to express any concerns they have regarding the process so far.

Security passes will be collected by close of work today Friday 21 October 2022.

Below is a list of all the six candidates and their departments:

1. Matilda Stevens – Banking and Finance

2. Francis Agibu Kargbo – information systems and Technology

3. Kadiatu Forewa – Accountancy

4. Claudius Moses Lewis – Business Administration

5. Ishmail Fofanah – Accountancy

6. Salamatu Jagitay – Management Science
