The Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) will commence its Elite Cricket Franchise League on Wednesday to tap the best talents as the country readies itself to make enviable gains in the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup Africa Sub Regional B Qualifier slated for 30th November through 9th December 2022 in Kigali, Rwanda.
The league will bring together sixty players with different skills distributed into four teams. Its climax will witness the invitation of the best performers to take part in national trials from where a final squad of 14 will be selected to undergo national training ahead of the competition in Kigali.
The Rwanda showpiece is the Qualifiers for the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2024 in USA and West Indies.
Regarding areas to improve on, the Chairman of SLCA, Francis Trevor Samura, said they intend to keep working on major skills including the ever-living batting crisis right from now till March 2023 when the Africa Division 1 will be held.
“We hope to draft in an experienced foreign Coach to train both our coaches and players to overcome the lapses we are talking about,” he said.
