Sierra Leone Senior Male National Football Team (Leone Stars) on Monday 14th November 2022 safely arrived in Fujairah, via Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Leone Stars of Sierra Leone are in the UAE for a week-long training camp as part of their endless preparations for the Ivory Coast 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers [AFCON].
Hosted at the Concorde Five Stars Hotel and Resort in the City of Fujairah, the team will engage in friendly matches during this period.
Meanwhile, the team had it first training session on Monday evening at the Fujairah Sports Stadium, and the physical and mental preparedness of the team appears to be quite stable. Thus far, there are no injuries in the camp.
The week-long training camp and the matches are organized by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) under the administration of President Thomas Daddy Brima and the Executive Committee Members.
Leone Stars first proposed match on Wednesday 16th November 2022 will not hold due to administrative and technical challenges beyond the control of the agent. However, the Sierra Leone-Algeria Team B (CHAN) match scheduled for Saturday 19th November 2022 will hold as planned, with possibility for a second match which will be communicated in due course.
It is now evident that the Ministry of Sports under Minister Ibrahim Nyelenkeh and the National Sports Authority of Dr. Kenneth Brima, through the Ministry of Finance have supported the Leone Stars in friendly matches than any other in the history of our country’s football•
