Ernest Hallowell, newly appointed Head Coach of Sierra Leone’s Senior Women’s Football Team ’Sierra Queens’, has assembled a provisional list of 36 players that commenced training at the Sierra Leone Football Association Academy in Freetown.
This is in readiness for the upcoming West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone A Women’s competition commencing on January 20, 2023 in Cape Verde.
Hallowell said the provisional players will be downsized to twenty immediately as star training session on Saturday 14th January.
He said he has worked with a host of them, maintaining that the final selection of the squad will base on their outstanding individual performance in the course of the training.
‘’One of my values is integrity; so favouritism is not my character. This is not about me nor the individual players but the nation. Therefore, I will not favour any player when downsizing to twenty”, he ended.
Nine nations including Sierra Leone are expected to compete in the championship.
The delegation is expected to depart Sierra Leone on Wednesday 18th January.
Sierra Leone hosted the maiden edition of the tournament in 2020 and were eliminated in the group stage
