Dr Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, while addressing his supporters regarding the forthcoming elections, has said that the party needs unity and should discourage the formation of different factions within the party to ensure for a formidable force come 2023.

He said that the worst APC is still better than the best SLPP government. So, he called on the party memberships to be united.

“The APC party is our everything,” he said.

He said this on Thursday 13th January 2023 at an event in Freetown addressing a cross section of APC supporters.

He continued that the APC party is a party of prospects as most of the country’s sustainable developments are done by the APC.

He said there is anger in the minds of Sierra Leoneans, but that anger could be vented out through the ballot box come 24 June 2023.

He added that the APC party is like a family to its supporters, and as a family, they are stronger than politics, thus, they should not allow politics to divide them.

“Politics is not an end game,” he said. “There is still a family line to protect after politics.”

He further admonished that politics should not be an avenue to invest in those who go into it, but rather to seek the interest of the people. He emphasized that in the vein of the party craving for unity, that should not imply the absence of fair competition at party level and that people should not use such platforms to cause animosity.

Addressing specifically those who contest for various positions at the party lower level elections, he advised them to be disciplined and tolerant because the fall of someone in politics does not mean failure, but it is a lesson for people to learn to stand up again for the future.

He said when he lost the presidential seat in 2018 that did not warrant him to cause chaos, but to use that as a stepping stone for his political career to become stronger.

He stressed about the unity of the party which is key to changing the political landscape of the country; for Sierra Leoneans are in a difficult stage, where a lot of humiliations have been meted them from all angles, and it takes the APC party to redeem them from such a bondage, thus the need for peace and cohesion within the party.

Being passionate about the activities of the party and expressing his optimism of the party to soon getting a flag bearer and in clinching the reign of governance on 24 June 2023, Dr Samura Kamara advised for the discouragement of aggrieved sections within the party, for he said the APC party advocates for all and not just selected few. Expressing about the state of the country, he mentioned that there is nothing good to write home about taking into consideration the suffering people are facing on a daily basis.

As a visionary leader, he talked about the need for the party to establish means to raise funds for the activities of the party both national and at local level in whatever little way, for he assured can help to settle problems within, without the intervention of government.

Citing the tempo in the lower level elections, he advised that as a peace loving party to desist from any form of violence, as one needs not to kill a fellow Sierra Leonean to survive, but called for a level playing field.

Owing to the rampage intake of intoxicants by youths in the country, he asked for  collective efforts at community level for sensitization; however he said some indulge in drug intake as a result of frustration designed by the leadership of the country. But nevertheless, he said drug intake should not be a way to resort to.

To redeem his people from pessimism, he alerted that the battle has begun and the need to have a good legacy for the future generation. He ended that he is optimistic of the party’s success on 24 June 2023 and the need for a peaceful and cohesive APC party for the restoration of the hope of the general masses.
