In a major philanthropic gesture coinciding with the commemoration of the Islamic feast of Eid ul Fitr, APC Strongman and former Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Ambassador Omrie Golley, donated household supplies and various food items to the people of Kombema Town in YKK Chiefdom, Pujehun District, on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. The act of generosity by the renowned politician is in response to the recent fire incident that engulfed over 12 (twelve) houses in the remote village.
The fire incident occurred on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the peak of Muslims’ holy month of Ramadan. That left tens of victims, including women and children, without food, clothing, or shelter.
Responding to the rapturous cries of gratitude and praise, Mr. Sheku Tarawally, leading a delegation representing Ambassador Golley (who is currently out of the country), stated that the purpose of the donation of various household items, including mattresses, clothing, footwear, rice, oil, and onions, was to relieve the immediate hardship of the villagers in the aftermath of the devastating fire that completely destroyed the personal belongings of a large number of the villagers.
Reacting to the donation of items to all affected households, Chief Momoh, town chief of Kombema, said that Ambassador Omrie Golley was the first to listen to their cries and come to their aid. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to Ambassador Omrie Golley for the support he has given them.
On behalf of the women of Kombema, the town Mamy Queen, Massah Konneh, stressed the relevance of the donation to alleviate the suffering of the fire incident for the women. She said that ever since the incident occurred about a week ago, some of the village women had to sleep in the open. He thanked Ambassador Omrie Golley profusely for the provision of mattresses and clothing to all fire-affected households, as well as food consumables, to cushion the adverse effects of the incident.
