Bo City, Sierra Leone, October 12, 2024 The executive of the Sierra Leone Athletics Association (SLAA) announced on Saturday that they will organize the Traditional Boxing Day Sports and Club Championship at the Bo Mini Stadium in Bo City from December 23 to 25, 2024.
According to SLAA President Martin Momoh Bangura, the local competitions are not only mandated by the National Sports Authority and the Ministry of Sports but also serve as a platform to identify and nurture talented athletes. We want athletes to perform at their best, and our selection for those representing Sierra Leone will be strictly based on performance.
The event will take place in Bo City due to the ongoing refurbishment of the national stadium in Freetown. This decision is expected to provide a convenient and accessible location for athletes and sports enthusiasts from across the country to participate in the festivities.
The Traditional Boxing Day Sports and Club Championship is a highly anticipated annual event that showcases the best of Sierra Leone’s athletic talent. The three-day event will feature a variety of sporting disciplines, including track and field events, as well as competitions among local sports clubs.
The SLAA’s commitment to promoting and developing sports in Sierra Leone is evident in their organization of this event. The Traditional Boxing Day Sports and Club Championship is expected to attract a large number of participants and spectators, further strengthening the country’s sports culture and providing a platform for the discovery of future champions.
