Abdul Augustus Kamason, a popular opposition politician and former parliamentary aspirant in Tonkolili District, has on Thursday, October 17, 2024, extended a humanitarian gesture to forty high-achieving female students from fourteen junior secondary schools across three chiefdoms in constituency 049, Tonkolili District, Northern Sierra Leone.

The beneficiaries, who scored the best National Primary School Examination (NPSE) aggregates, received essential learning materials, including backpacks, pens, pencils, and erasers.

The donation was done through the politician’s humanitarian group, the Kamason Foundation.

The 14 junior secondary schools, located in Kholifa Mabang, Mamuntha-Mayossoh, and Malal chiefdoms, were the focus of this latest initiative spearheaded by the Kamason Foundation’s founder, Abdul Augustus Kamason. Kamason, widely regarded as a devoted philanthropist, humanitarian, and politician, is known for his continuous efforts to support and uplift his community. This latest act of generosity was met with overwhelming gratitude from teachers, parents, students, and the wider public.

Abdul Augustus Kamason contested for a parliamentary seat in the 2023 general elections under the main opposition, the All People’s Congress. Unfortunately, Kamason did not make it to Parliament, but the fact that he remained supportive of his people and community manifests his generosity and love for humanity.

During the presentation, the Vice Principal of Malal Community Junior Secondary School, Ibrahim S. Kamara, expressed his heartfelt appreciation.

“This gesture was completely unexpected, but the school and the entire community are grateful to the Kamason Foundation for continuously remembering us in such meaningful ways,” Kamara said.

Similarly, Daniel R. Kanu, principal of Mabai Community Junior Secondary School, noted that this was the first time such a donation had been made in the school’s history.

“The Kamason Foundation is the first to embark on such a humanitarian drive in our school. This donation is timely, as many of our students were in desperate need of these learning materials,” Kanu stated, emphasizing the significant impact the initiative would have on students’ academic experiences.

Also, principals from schools in Mamuntha-Mayossoh chiefdom also shared their gratitude, applauding the Kamason Foundation for its commitment to improving educational outcomes.

According to one of the students from the Sunday Junior Secondary School in Mamuntha Village, the donation gives them hope and also motivates them to work even harder.

“We are proud to have someone like Abdul Augustus Kamason who believes in our potential and is willing to invest in our future,” the beneficiary said.

The Kamason Foundation’s work extends beyond education, as the organization has a strong track record of supporting community development. One of its standout contributions includes funding surgical operations for over thirty individuals in need. Kamason’s philanthropic reach has touched many lives, providing life-changing support whenever a need arises.

Parents and community members echoed the sentiments of gratitude, praising Kamason for his solid perseverance in serving his people.

“We are deeply grateful to Augustus Kamason. His generosity goes beyond words, and this gesture is just another evidence of his compassion for our children and community,” a parent in Kholifa Mabang Chiefdom said.

This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Kamason Foundation to promote girl child education, empower women, and address critical needs in underserved communities in constituency 049.

With this latest donation, Augustus Kamason has once again demonstrated his pledge to improving lives, promoting education, and providing support to those who need it most.

The gesture not only reinforces Kamason’s standing as a humanitarian but also highlights the vital role that community-based organizations play in advancing education and social development across Sierra Leone.
