The Programme Coordinator of Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation(JNJF), Rugiatu Tarawalie, recently visited several of the foundation’s communities of intervention to engage widows on the significance of the upcoming fundraising luncheon sale, set for November 16, 2024. The luncheon sale, aimed at raising funds to support widows and less privileged women, will take place at CB’s Restaurant, Maritime House, Government Wharf. During her visit, Ms. Tarawalie encouraged the widows to fully participate in the event, emphasizing how their involvement will further empower them and benefit their families.

Ms. Tarawalie underscored the impact that the funds raised will have on the foundation’s ongoing projects. “This luncheon sale is not just an event; it’s an opportunity to secure sustainable financial resources that will help us continue providing vital support like business start-ups, training, and social income for widows who need it most,” she said. “Your participation in the luncheon sale will not only strengthen our cause but also show the world that you are committed to taking control of your future.”

The community development officers, Hawa Bintu Dauda and Solomon Temgbeh, were present during these visits. Ms. Dauda reiterated the importance of the event, stating that funds raised would directly impact widows’ lives by providing access to essential resources. “The more successful this luncheon sale is, the more we can give back. Whether it’s microloans, vocational skills training, or expanding our Water Tank projects, every penny raised will go towards improving the lives of the women in our communities,” she said.
For many widows, the foundation’s interventions have been life-changing, and this event provides a way for the community to come together in support of that mission. “I encourage all of you to spread the word and participate in this event, as it’s designed to uplift you and help sustain our programs,” said Mr. Temgbeh.
The fundraising luncheon, which will feature African traditional meals, cultural performances, and handcrafted items for sale, is expected to generate much-needed financial support. The funds will be used to continue initiatives like the Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA), small business start-ups, and social income programs, ensuring widows have the tools and resources to build independent, sustainable livelihoods.
Tickets are available at various levels: Platinum 500 Le, Gold 200 Le, Silver 100 Le, and Ordinary 50 Le. All funds raised will directly impact widows and underprivileged women, helping them lead empowered, independent lives.
