Syvester Samuel Vandy, the male captain for Handball for a New Tomorrow Sierra Leone (Hand SL), has proven himself to be a true force to be reckoned with. In 2018, Vandy joined the national team and had the honor of captaining the U-18 side during their travels to Mauritania, where he emerged as the highest goal scorer for the team.
Vandy’s dedication and commitment to the sport have been the driving force behind his success. In December 2023, he was recognized as the best player during the Western Area Handball Competition, solidifying his role as leader on the team.
But Vandy’s achievements extend beyond the handball court. The versatile athlete also holds a Master’s degree, demonstrating his commitment to personal growth and academic excellence.
“My aim is to always be at the top and also help others achieve their goals,” says Vandy. His unwavering passion for the sport and his desire to inspire the next generation of handball players in Sierra Leone are truly admirable.
As Vandy continues to excel both on and off the court, he serves as a shining example of what can be accomplished through hard work, determination, and a steadfast commitment to one’s passions.
