Steven Caulker, the esteemed captain of the Sierra Leone national football team, the Leone Stars, has made the heartfelt decision to resign from his leadership role due to the team’s recent setbacks in competitions, especially in the AFCON Qualifiers. Caulker’s commitment to excellence and desire to see progress on the field led to this difficult choice.
In a remarkable and selfless act, Caulker announced that he will be donating $12,500 of his earnings from the AFCON Qualifiers to the “Sick Pikin Project,” a noble initiative dedicated to assisting sick children in Sierra Leone. His donation exemplifies his dedication to giving back to the community and supporting those in need.
“I have donated my appearance fee from the 2024 AFCON campaign to the Sick Pikin Baby Project. I do not want to take money that we don’t deserve. This is a fantastic charity doing amazing work, and I know that several children will benefit from the donation,” Caulker stated, highlighting the importance of supporting such impactful initiatives.
Caulker’s decision to step down as captain and his generous contribution to the Sick Pikin Project reflect his strong character, compassion, and desire to make a positive difference both on and off the field.
