In a candid assessment, the scout for the national football team, Leone Stars, Morlia Kamara, has emphasized the need for immediate reforms to prepare the squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Kamara acknowledged the team’s technical challenges, highlighting the disparity in organizational strength and tactical execution that must be addressed. “Our problem was in decision-making and execution,” the scout said, underscoring the urgency for improvement.
Reflecting on the team’s performance in their last World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso, where they appeared to be in a strong position, Kamara expressed concern over the Leone Stars’ trajectory since then. “We need to become more organized, both technically and tactically,” he stressed. “The players must learn to execute under pressure and make the right decisions at crucial moments.”
With the 2026 World Cup qualifiers fast approaching, Kamara believes there is no time to waste. “We can’t afford to wait,” he said. “We have a lot of talent in the squad, but we need better organization and more focus if we’re to compete at the highest level.”
The scout’s call for urgent reforms underscores the need for the Leone Stars to address their shortcomings and put in place a comprehensive plan to ensure they are well-prepared for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Failure to do so, Kamara warned, could jeopardize the team’s chances of making it to the global showpiece.
