In a tightly contested match at The Valley, Charlton Athletic’s Daniel Kanu marked his return from injury with a goal just six minutes after coming on as a substitute. Unfortunately, his strike was not enough to secure the three points, as Charlton fell to a 2-1 defeat against Crawley Town.
Kanu, who had been sidelined for several weeks due to injury, made an immediate impact when he was introduced in the second half. With the game finely poised at 1-1, the 23-year-old forward found the back of the net to put the home side in front.
However, Crawley Town refused to back down and managed to equalize late in the game before snatching the winner in the closing stages to secure all three points.
Charlton expressed their disappointment with the result but praised Kanu’s contribution, saying, “Daniel showed his quality with that goal, and it was great to see him back on the pitch. We just couldn’t hold on to the lead, and Crawley deserved the win in the end.”
The defeat leaves Charlton in a precarious position in the league table, and they will be hoping to bounce back in their next fixture as they look to climb up the standings.
