The Ministry of Communication and Civic Education recently organized a two-day Salone Civic Festival at the prestigious Youyi Building Hall in Freetown on the 11th and 12th of December, 2024. The event, envisioned by His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, aimed to promote civic responsibility, celebrate Sierra Leonean heritage, and foster unity among citizens.
During the event, Minister of Communication and Civic Education, Chernor A. Bah, emphasized the importance of civic understanding and encouraged pride in national identity. The festival highlighted government achievements, with various ministries, departments, and agencies presenting their accomplishments to the public.
Keynote speeches were delivered by President Dr. Julius Maada Bio and Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, both emphasizing the importance of civic engagement and national development. President Bio launched a new civic education strategy, while Vice President Jalloh outlined key education initiatives, including teacher recruitment and digital advancements in the sector.
The festival concluded with a peace and unity concert featuring cultural performances and appearances by prominent Sierra Leonean artists. Awards were presented by the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, and Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh. The event successfully showcased the country’s cultural richness and commitment to civic engagement.
