A woman was arrested on Tuesday, 17th December 2024, with a locally made shotgun pistol with three cartridges in a village around Mile 91 town, Yoni Mamaila Chiefdom, Tonkolili District, Northern Sierra Leone.
Aminata Turay was found in possession of the locally made shotgun pistol at her residence in Rochen Junction village during a police raid after an intelligence tip-off of her involvement in drugs.
The police officers from the Mile 91 Police Division were searching Turay’s residence when the shotgun pistol with the cartridges was discovered inside her room.
At around 16:30 hours, a team of police officers led by Supt. John Mansaray, Operations Officer of the Mile 91 Police Division, onboarded SLP 312 vehicle and left the Mile 91 Police station for Rochen Junction upon intelligence received from a concerned citizen that the suspect, Aminata Turay of Rochen Junction, Yoni Mamailla Chiefdom, was selling illegal drugs (tramadol).
Upon arrival at the scene, her premises were searched for drugs (tramadol).
Surprisingly, the police reported that a locally made shotgun pistol with three (03) of its cartridges was found in possession of the suspect.
Turay, the police said, is possessing the pistol and the cartridges without lawful authority or reasonable excuse and was immediately arrested and taken to the police station for investigation.
The suspect and exhibits are in police custody. The investigation is in progress.
