Fabrizio’s trip followed an official request made to the ActionAid Sierra Leone (AASL) team, driven by his desire to personally meet the child whom he supports through ActionAid’s partnership with the local community.

This visit highlights the bond between ActionAid and its supporters, and it is also a part of ActionAid’s ongoing effort to bring community service to those in need, focusing on children and education. Through its child sponsorship scheme, ActionAid is currently supporting the education of over 500 children in the community, contributing to ensuring a brighter future for the next generation.

Brima Mansaray, ActionAid Sierra Leone’s Sponsorship and Program Support Manager, explained that the visit was part of the organization’s broader mission to bring about inclusive development in underserved communities.

“I am deeply moved to see firsthand the impact of the support ActionAid provides,” Brima said during the briefing. “Fabrizio’s visit not only speaks to the commitment of our supporters but also reaffirms our belief in making a real difference, one child at a time.”

Fabrizio, visibly touched by the warmth of the community, expressed his heartfelt thanks, telling the community, “I am an orphan, but your kind welcome made me feel so good and made me consider you as my family.” His sentiment resonated strongly with the people, who appreciated the deep connection forged through the scheme.

In a moving show of support, the town’s chief, Hassan Y Conteh, also addressed the gathering, thanking ActionAid for their continued support. He called on Fabrizio and other supporters to come again, stating, “ActionAid’s efforts have greatly impacted our community, particularly our children. Fabrizio and all other supporters are welcome at any time because their contributions positively impact our community.”

The child’s mother, Sia, overwhelmed with emotion, reflected on the transformative role of ActionAid in her daughter’s life. “Three years ago, ActionAid came in contact with my child. Since then, they have supported her through a friend from Italy. I am filled with joy and gratitude for the support we have received.”

ActionAid’s role in Rokonta extends far beyond the provision of financial support; it is an embodiment of sustainable development goals, emphasizing education and the upliftment of children.
