Authorities in Yele Chiefdom, in the northern District of Tonkolili, have, in a letter dated 12th January 2025, informed members of the public that the community will be having a weekly Luma every Thursday of the week.
The letter is authored by Paramount Chief Bai Kump Kanaseng III of Yele Chiefdom and was addressed to all sectors and members of the public, especially the business community.

The weekly Luma will be officially launched on the 23rd of January 2025, and it will always take place at the main junction of Yele Township.
“With references to the above subject matter, I write to inform all sectors that Yele Chiefdom will be having a Luma every Thursday of the week at the main junction of the township,” the letter reads.

PC Bai Kump Kanaseng III said he’s calling on Yele residents and outsiders to always avail themselves at the venue every Thursday.
This development has been widely praised from within Yele and outside. The Paramount Chief said he’s inviting all and sundry to witness the official launching of the weekly market in his community.
