Residents of Kroo Bay, one of Freetown’s most vulnerable slum communities, have lauded Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh for his visit to Masjid Muhagireen, marking the first time in a long while that a high-profile government official has engaged them during Ramadan.
The Vice President, who joined worshippers for Jumah prayers, reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s religious tolerance and unity, urging the Muslim Ummah to reflect on their role in fostering peace and national progress.
In his sermon, the Imam of the mosque, Sheikh Alimamy Rassim Jalloh, acknowledged the longstanding relationship between the mosque, its leadership, and the Office of the Vice President, commending VP Juldeh Jalloh for his consistent support.
He also expressed gratitude for the vice president’s recent donation of food items for Iftar, which has provided relief for fasting families.
VP Jalloh emphasized that as Muslims and Christians observe fasting in Ramadan and Lent, Sierra Leoneans must focus on their shared values and collective aspiration for peace and prosperity.
His visit underscored the government’s commitment to inclusivity and strengthening ties with marginalized communities.
