Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has once again highlighted Sierra Leone’s reputation as a beacon of religious tolerance, emphasizing the nation’s unity during the holy month of Ramadan.
Observing his first Ramadan Jumah Prayer at the Masjid Muhagireen in the Kroo Bay community, the Vice President called on the Muslim Ummah to reflect on their role in fostering peace and national progress.
“I used the occasion to implore the Ummah to use this time to reflect on the role that each of us plays in fostering peace, unity, and progress in our nation,” he stated, reinforcing his earlier message that Sierra Leone remains a model of peaceful coexistence between religious groups.
Reiterating his commitment to national cohesion, VP Jalloh drew attention to the simultaneous observance of fasting by both Muslims and Christians, urging citizens to embrace their shared values.
“I reminded them that as our Christian brothers and sisters also undertake this period of fasting and reflection, we must focus on the factors that unite us as a people, especially our desire for a peaceful and prosperous Sierra Leone,” he added.
His remarks reflect ongoing efforts by the government of President Julius Maada Bio to promote religious harmony, a defining characteristic of Sierra Leone’s social fabric.
The vice president’s engagement with the Kroo Bay community underscores the government’s dedication to inclusivity and collective progress during this sacred period.
